More than 350 students attended a trade expo in Sydney last week to find out about careers in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, electrical trades and metal fabrication.

This is the third year the Say Yes to Trades Expo has been held and the turnout was the biggest to date.

The level of interest in becoming a RAC technician increases every year, according to RTO manager at the Superior Training Centre, Angelique Coetzee.

“Originally we only made 200 tickets available for the event but the interest from high schools was overwhelming,” she said.

“We had to double that number to accommodate all of the students, it has been a huge success.”

Students were able to talk directly to industry about apprenticeship opportunities and learn more about the kind of support that is available to students studying a trade.
