Not only do RLS Flame-Free Press Fittings get the job done faster, they eliminate fire hazards from your workplace.

No matter how careful a contractor might be, there is always a risk of fire every single time a brazing torch is used on a job site. And of course, this risk increases when brazing in tight spaces, especially near insulation, wood and other combustible materials.

That’s why more and more HVAC and refrigeration technicians have replaced the torch with a press tool and press fittings from RLS (Rapid Locking System). RLS invented the original HVACR press fittings, which have been in widespread use around the world since 2015 – with more than 15 million fittings installed to date.

RLS fittings were specifically designed and engineered for the high pressures of HVACR, and are UL listed for pressures up to 700 psi. The patented RLS press technology uses a double circular press – featuring two 360˚ metal-to-metal connections – that creates a permanent mechanical joint every time. Plus, RLS connections are consistent and repeatable – and only require minimal training – because the battery-powered press tool does the work.

Easy installation.

RLS press fittings make reliable copper tube connections in just 10 seconds, saving significant time and labour costs compared to manually brazing joints.

Using RLS fittings means contractors no longer need to haul heavy tanks and other brazing equipment to and from the jobsite, no longer need to nitrogen purge, and no longer need to purchase and stock brazing materials. Plus, where required for brazing, hot work permits and fire watch are no longer required. It all adds up to projects being completed faster and often with fewer people – meaning more jobs get done.

RLS-compatible jaws are available for most press tools on the market (19kN, 24 kN and 32kN), including the RIDGID RP200 and RP300 series, the Milwaukee M12 and M18 series, as well as many other tools from Klauke, Rothenberger, Viega, Dewalt and others.

That means contractors who already own a press tool will most likely only need to purchase jaws (and only in the sizes they use) to get the safety and time-saving benefits of RLS fittings.

RLS offers a full range of fitting sizes from 1/4” to 1-3/8”, including couplings, 90˚ and 45˚ elbows, tees, reducers, reducing bushings, SAE/Euro flares and caps – as well as RLS-compatible Y-joints, P-traps, filter driers, ball valves and sight glasses. In addition, RLS supplies all the necessary tools and jaws, both individually and in convenient kits.
