Carel has acquired German rotary and plate heat exchanger manufacturer Klingenburg GmbH and Klingenburg International.
Founded in 1979, the Klingenburg Group has 200 employees with factories in Gladbeck, Germany, and Świdnica, Poland. They also have offices in the UK, Spain and the United States.
Carel CEO Francesco Nalini said the acquisition strengthens its position in the air handling unit market following the acquisitions of Italian air-to-air heat exchangers company Recuperator in 2018 and the purchase of Italian damper manufacturer Enginia last year.
He said the complementary technologies shared by Recuperator and Klingenburg enable industrial and commercial synergies that allow Carel to be a sole supplier of complete air treatment systems.
In a statement, Carel said the transaction will open new markets and new geographies with the creation of significant cross selling opportunities. In particular, the possibility of producing in the United States which would allow for an easier North American penetration for Kingenburg products.
“The company continually presents itself as a supplier of complete control solutions with high added value in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry with energy efficiency as the main characteristic,” the statement said.
