Ernest West & Beynon (EWB) has joined the Bitzer Marine Service Network which gives EWB customers unfettered access to Bitzer’s full range of compressors, spare parts and system components specially designed and optimised for use in a marine environment.
Founded in 1909, EWB is a specialist commercial refrigeration company that has used Bitzer compressors and components for over 30 years.
Joining the network enables EWB to deliver the highest standards of quality throughout the lifespan of products starting from design, through manufacturing and into commissioning and lifelong maintenance and servicing.
An in-depth audit was conducted at EWB headquarters in the UK to ensure the company met Bitzer’s high standards regarding customer care (including maximum response time), staffing (including minimum levels, skills, competences, continuous development), tools and equipment, evidence of statutory compliance and other requirements.
With a long history of servicing refrigeration equipment on ships in all His Majesty’s Naval Bases (Portsmouth, Devonport, Clyde) EWB can deploy at very short notice a team of experienced engineers dedicated to providing top-notch maintenance services.
This extends to their global network which includes the US, Cape Town, Singapore and Australia.
In November 2023, Cold Logic announced a partnership with EWB to construct cold and cool rooms for the first batch of Hunter class frigates in Australia.
The contract included the construction of a refrigerated storeroom, which includes a cold room, cool room, refrigerated airlock and dairy room, and refrigeration machinery.
With substantial expertise in delivering bespoke refrigeration and climate control system solutions, Cold Logic established its dedicated defence division in 2017 following successful projects to upgrade and sustain the Collins class submarine program’s provision refrigeration system.
