With the sweltering summer months on the horizon, Australians want to keep their homes at a comfortable temperature. Energy and cost concerns mean people are looking to purchase efficient systems they can use all year round. Panasonic product marketing manager, airconditioning, Joe De Bella, said consumers are beginning to realise reverse cycle air conditioning is one of the most energy efficient ways to heat their homes during winter and keep cool during summer. “As a result, we’re seeing an increased interest in reverse cycle products, particularly those that perform highly in energy efficiency, such as our new Econavi products, which are industry leading in this area,” he said. Australia is a country of extremes, meaning people need solutions for both hot and cold climates. At the same time, De Bella said customers want to save on energy bills, reduce health risks in the home, avoid direct airflow which creates chilly conditions and reduce health risks in the home. “Panasonic’s latest reverse cycle air conditioners provide a simple, efficient and affordable solution for Australia’s dynamic climate,” he said. The new range of Econavi airconditioners feature iAuto-X, providing faster cooling than ever before, improved directional airflow and reduced direct airflow. De Bella said the new ‘shower cooling’ feature ensures cool air is projected across the ceiling, and showers down naturally, spreading over a wider area of the room while minimising any uncomfortable direct airflow chill. The Econavi range offers up to 9.0kW heating and 8.0kW cooling, meaning Australian homes can stay comfortable all year round. Heating operation is designed to operate even when it’s a freezing -15°C outside and cooling up to +46°C. “Panasonic’s improved energy savings, health-focused innovations and quiet operation make the range a sustainable solution for the whole year,” De Bella said. Also, the new Panasonic range of wall hung split systems have had an improvement in star ratings across most of its models, giving the customer a more efficient product to satisfy the need for cost effective cooling/heating. “ This has been achieved by design improvements as well as moving the entire range to R32 refrigerant gas. Additionally the latest Econavi technology uses human activity, sunlight and temperature sensors to intelligently adapt the heating and cooling power according to the room conditions," he said,Key energy saving features include: Econavi technology: Uses multiple sensors to adapt the heating or cooling power according to room conditions. With just one touch of a button, customers can enjoy energy savings of up to 45 per cent on heating mode and up to 38 per cent on cooling mode. Absence detection: Maximises energy efficiency by detecting and learning when movement in the room occurs. Energy is saved when there’s nobody in the room by reducing heat output. Area search technology: Directs air flow to the area of the room where people are located. “For those worried about bacteria and allergens building up in the home, Panasonic’s revolutionary nanoe-G feature provides the ultimate peace of mind,” De Bella said. Nanoe-G eliminates micro-organisms - removing 99 per cent of airborne bacteria, viruses and mould. He said it also catches and deactivates 99 per cent of bacteria and viruses on surfaces and in the filter[iii], resulting in a cleaner and healthier home. “The air purifying feature works hand in hand with the mild dry cooling function, which reduces unwanted side effects of airconditioning such as dry skin and mouths by maintaining the level of air moisture in the room,” De Bella said. “Energy efficiency continues to be one of the most important considerations for consumers looking to purchase an air conditioning product. We do not foresee this trend changing in the future. “Panasonic will continue to develop innovative energy saving technologies like Econavi, which offers consumers real energy savings intuitively without the need for any action from the user. " With Australia’s extreme climate, consumers are looking for airconditioning solutions that will work all year round. Panasonic will continue to focus on dynamic technologies to support this. “Combining advanced energy-efficiency and health-focused innovations with ease of use and quiet operation, Panasonic’s Econavi reverse cycle inverter airconditioners are perfectly designed for Australian families.” The Panasonic Sizing Wizard app is available for tablets and smartphones, and makes choosing the right air conditioner simpler for consumers and retailers alike.
