Cold Logic technician, Mitchell Kain, fell into the trade by accident.
“I was studying a foundation course on mechanical engineering. But as COVID was a big thing at the time a lot of it was online so it wasn’t very enjoyable,” he says.
Fortunately, his mate’s father provided Mitch with work experience. “Now he is my supervisor,” he says.
“I really enjoy the variety of work it is an interesting field, one where you are always learning. Also I am a hands-on sort of guy so I took to the trade straight away.”
The 21-year-old is at the end of his third year and says he will definitely stick with the trade. “It’s hard to believe that before becoming an apprentice I had no idea what refrigeration was about,” he says.
Once this trade is completed Mitchell will move towards an electrical apprenticeship.
“With a dual trade I will have more to offer which means I will have more opportunities.”
