Cold Logic apprentice, Bayden Mom, found out about the trade from friends and family.
“I knew a fair bit about the industry before I started so I knew it was a good trade,” Bayden says.
“There is a lot to learn and so many pathways that a technician can go down, it is a big industry.”
The 19-year-old apprentice is in his first year but enjoys learning.
Bayden is currently working in the marine industry which can be challenging.
“The most challenging aspect is trying to learn about the different vessels and their systems,” he says. “Two vessels can look the same but have very different systems.”
Although Bayden is still a new apprentice, he can see plenty of specialty areas that can be pursued down the track.
“There is plenty of variety for anyone entering the trade,” he says. “I don’t have a clear plan for the future. My first priority is to become qualified then I can go from there.”
