KEY Tubing & Electrical Industries says it continues to grow in an incredibly challenging environment.

KEY is a 100 per cent Australian-owned company specialising in the manufacture of a unique range of copper capillary tube, electrical heater assemblies, heater cables, high temperature cables, harness assemblies and electrical cord sets.

KEY is a leading supplier of custom manufactured copper tubing to both the Australian and international markets.

Founded in South Australia in 1945, KEY Industries says it has established a reputation as a reliable supplier of quality components to Australian domestic appliance manufacturers.

Initial expertise in tube drawing, presswork and anodising was expanded to include full component manufacture of electric defrost heaters suitable for the refrigeration industry.

In 1990 KEY took on new owners and products including a specialised range of electrical products, which included looms and harness, plug and cord and finished items.

With an Australian manufacturing heritage spanning more than 65 years, KEY Tubing & Electrical Industries has an unsurpassed record of providing cost effective value-added solutions to organisations globally, the company says.

KEY's main fields of expertise are in HVAC&R, healthcare, electrical distribution, automotive and resource industries.

Best practice techniques in lean and six sigma provide the cultural platform of continuous improvement to maintain ISO 9001 2008 accreditation, the company says.

KEY manufactures precision-drawn copper and aluminium tubing with tight dimensional tolerances and a high standard of cleanliness.

It can be supplied in hard drawn or annealed through its own copper annealing ovens.

In addition KEY can produce any combination of outside/inside dimensions to meet individual requirements.

Tubing can be supplied in coil form or cut to length to customers’ requirements through the company's Burr Oak machinery, which performs ‘groove and pull’ leaving a swarf- and oil-free end finish.

All products supplied in coil and cut to length are tested for defects to ensure quality.

The company's CNC 3-axis bending equipment converts drawings into repeatable production of tubular components.

To complement CNC bending equipment, KEY uses a metrology level CMM tube measuring system to guarantee accuracy.

This system also supplies a X,Y & Z customer off tool sample report.

KEY specialises in most forms of tube bending such as copper, aluminium, brass, stainless steel, bundy tube and mild steel.

KEY can provide customised end forming solutions such as flaring, expanding and deburring plus a full range of end spun accumulators in a range of materials and sizes.

The company is Australia’s largest producer of copper and copper nickel low-finned tube, used widely in the mining, air conditioning and refrigeration industries.

Its in-house finning process provides excellent heat exchange properties for these industries.

KEY provides an extensive range of coil in most metals, and can create custom coil in over 300 sizes and diameters.

The company also supplies bulk coil lengths and off the shelf coil standard packs in common sizes.

KEY specialises in all forms of brazing and tig welding, working with basic components through to fully manufactured assemblies.

Final assemblies are comprehensively cleaned via its ultrasonic cleaning station, which removes any residue fluxes and carbons from the brazing process.
