LG Electronics Australia (LG) released its new Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) solution, the Multi V IV Heat Pump 460V, to the local market yesterday.

Equipped with a number of LG’s proprietary technologies, the Multi V IV delivers advanced cooling performance that goes beyond the current industry standard.

The latest in the company’s successful line of Multi V products, this model offers industry leading energy efficiency, excellent operational savings and greater convenience

The Multi V IV boasts a superior coefficient of performance (COP) of 4.34, made possible by LG’s leading edge technologies.

These include HiPORTM (High Pressure Oil Return), which minimises compressor energy wastage, the Variable Heat Exchanger Circuit, which a selects the optimal paths for both heating and cooling. With LG’s fourth generation inverter compressor – the High-side Shell (HSS) scroll inverter – and a BLDC-type motor coil, the Multi V IV effectively minimises energy loss under part load conditions.

It is also able to offer a 30 per cent improvement in integrated part load energy efficiency, as well as an increased COP in cooling operation by 10 per cent.

The outdoor unit’s new efficient inverter compressors provide an even wider operational range of 15 Hz to 150 Hz, allowing the outdoor unit to deliver responsive and efficient cooling and heating.

An increased number of valves in the compressors, from four to six, also allow a more meticulous control of the refrigerant in part load condition, compared to conventional models with just four bypass valves.

The smart control system allows users to remotely monitor and adjust settings via a smartphone or computer.

The series also supports system piping up to an impressive 1,000m in length, and to a height of 110m between the indoor and outdoor units.

In addition, a lighter outdoor unit (on average, 28 per cent lighter than the conventional model) makes installation easier and exerts fewer loads on the building structure.
