Simon Mahoney has been appointed Asia Pacific vice president for building automation company, EasyIO.

Mahoney has almost 30 year’s experience in the building automation industry having worked around the world, in the UK, Australia and for the last 12 years in Asia.

Initially based in Singapore, Mahoney will lead the business development and marketing efforts in the Asia Pacific region, building the distribution channels and creating market awareness for the complete EasyIO product range.

Commenting on his appointment, Mahoney said he has a passion for working with leading edge products and taking them to market.

"This is a very exciting opportunity; working with a company who is at the forefront of technology innovation and is responsive to market needs," he said.

The building automation software market is currently growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 11.10 per cent, according to ReportsnReports.com

One trend in the building automation software industry is integration of IoT in building automation system.

Traditional buildings are controlled manually, which entails high lead time and operational cost, the research firm said.

The biggest challenge in the current market is high switching and installation costs.

"Building automation provides enhanced visibility of energy utilization in a building at a sub-meter level, paving the way for more efficient facility management," the ReportsnReports.com said.

"Thus, vendors are developing advanced features, better functionality, compatibility features, and innovative technology to improve operational functionality that increases the overall price of the building automation solutions."
