Since launching its very own charity initiative four years ago, Heatcraft has donated more than $80,000 to Australian and New Zealand charities.
This year the charity of choice for ‘Heatcraft Helping Hands’ is Foodbank.
Foodbank is the largest food relief organisation in Australia.
Foodbank donates surplus food from the food and grocery industry and distributes it via charitable welfare agencies, to people in need.
Heatcraft A/NZ managing director Bill Moltner said Heatcraft Helping Hands begins with the generosity of staff.
"We fundraise throughout the year and our employees remain enthusiastic and committed. We value their contribution and as a company match dollar for dollar the donations they make”, Moltner said.
As a result of 2012 fundraising efforts, Heatcraft Australia proudly presented a cheque for $21,000 to Foodbank.
This amount was made up of $7,000 worth of employee fundraising – which was matched by Heatcraft Australia taking the total to $14,000.
Moltner said the $14,000 figure then became $21,000 when global parent Heatcraft Worldwide Refrigeration also generously matched the employee contributions.
“The association has been rewarding for both parties and a great synergy has evolved," he said.
In addition to monetary donations, Heatcraft Australia has also donated Kirby Refrigeration Equipment for the Foodbank storage facilities at Wetherill Park, NSW.
Heatcraft also offer employees the opportunity to volunteer for a day at one of the
Foodbank sites.
“It is a rewarding exercise that our staff value," Moltner said.
In his acceptance speech, Foodbank's CEO, John Webster said $21,000 enables Foodbank to provide 42,000 meals to needy families.
Heatcraft will continue the association with Foodbank throughout 2013.
