Australia's premier built environment conference and expo, Green Cities 2013, begins tomorrow at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre
The conference will be held from March 6-7, 2013 and is co-hosted by the Green Building Council of Australia and Property Council of Australia.
It will bring together world-leading sustainability specialists and innovators to share new ways of thinking, while interactive sessions will explore the tools, tactics and techniques required to build a sustainable future.
"Australia has an important role to play in the development and delivery of benchmark buildings, infrastructure, communities and urban regeneration projects,”according to Cate Harris, head of sustainability in Australia at Lend Lease, which is the principal sponsor of Green Cities.
"Green Cities 2013 enables our industry to collaborate, contribute to thought leadership and create innovative solutions to address the challenges of climate change and rapid urban regeneration. Lend Lease is excited about delegates challenging their thinking, challenging their approaches and challenging those that say sustainability can't be done.”
The Green Cities' exhibition space has been transformed into an urban retreat, reconnecting us with nature and the design principles of ‘biophilia’.
Clinton Squires, managing director of Interface Australia, said biophilia is about integrating nature with design, which can have significant implications for the built environment such as improving productivity, enhancing learning, health and well-being.
A number of presenters will tackle the big questions facing the green building movement in the Fifty Shades of Green session, sponsored by Interface.
Building information and software specialists will investigate the role of data visualisation and modelling in the planning and development of cities and infrastructure.
