It’s time to separate fact from fiction and get real about R32.

In recent months, CCN has received a number of letters from contractors seeking information about refrigerants R32
and R410a.

While the main topic of concern was safety, the letters also raised a number of legal questions around liability and on
the job risks.

Clearly these letters require a professional response but they can also form the basis of an important debate.
By publishing the debate in CCN Magazine - covering the pros and cons of new refrigerants - it will raise industry
awareness and provide a forum for discussion.

It is also an opportunity to get reader feedback and share experiences that could benefit those making the transition
to new low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants.

Although it’s a discussion, I want to avoid going down the fictional garden path of a highly charged debate and
stick to the facts. So if you have real world experiences to share of actually working with new refrigerants then we
want to hear from you.

Readers are invited to take part in the “Fact or Fiction” debate  by emailing yours truly at sandravandijk@yaffa.com.au.
Letters, questions from readers, as well as responses from industry bodies and gas wholesalers will be published in
CCN as a special feature.

It isn’t just new refrigerants generating discussion, but also refrigerant reuse, which has become a popular topic
since the introduction of the carbon tax.

The steep rise in refrigerant prices has intensified interest in recycling and reuse.

For all the latest on the changing refrigerant landscape, check out our special feature in the June edition of CCN Magazine.

Finally, a special thanks to everyone that dropped by the CCN stand at ARBS. It was great to meet you.

Next month CCN will publish a special ARBS edition of the magazine, covering every aspect of the three-day event -
from new products right through to the seminar program.
