Australian companies have been given access to technology developed by Mayekawa in conjunction with Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.

In response to the CFC and HCFC phase-out for 2020, Japan has been moving away from synthetic refrigerants.

Since 1996, Japan has been implementing technologies that replace synthetic refrigerants with natural alternatives, and Mayekawa has been at the forefront of this movement.

One example is the Newton series of refrigeration and chiller packages which can harness the ideal combination of low charge ammonia coupled with a CO2 secondary system.

It is all built in a compact skid arrangement for new and existing facilities to transition to natural refrigerants.

This technology, which features a high efficiency IPM motor driving semi-hermetic compound compressor, is available in Australia.

Direct expansion enables extremely low ammonia charge in the range of 25 to 80kg depending on the model (ammonia never leaves the Newton package).

Safety is improved due to low ammonia charge in the plant room and CO2 only in the chilled space or processing area.

It also has a VFD drive for superior efficiency across a range of loads and boasts reduced carbon emissions and energy use.
