All of the latest news on Building Information Modelling (BIM) projects and best practice will be on show at a innovative forum to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre on July 25 - 26, 2013.
The forum is part of BIM-MEPAUS an industry initiative which seeks to effectively address the issues currently impeding the transition to BIM-based integrated project delivery.
The BIM-MEPAUS initiative is a global leading initiative which aims to achieve significant increase in productivity and a commercial framework for the implementation of BIM through industry adopted software platforms, standards and services.
In a sign of significant progress, a number of Australian projects have commenced in 2012 and 2013 embedding the specifications, standards, models and workflows being developed under the BIM-MEPAUS initiative.
The focus of the BIM-MEPAUS Construction Innovation 2013 Forum will include demonstrations of how BIM practices are being successfully used by companies to increase their efficiency and productivity of coordination at every stage of the project lifecycle.
Day one will include case studies by head contractors, clients and property owners.
Presenters will focus on their experiences in embracing BIM and also how standardisation through BIM-MEPAUS can work to resolve technical issues and other barriers to BIM.
Day two presentations will involve MEP contractors and suppliers who have also embraced the BIM-MEPAUS initiative with demonstrations geared toward facility managers.
The sessions cover all stages of the project lifecycle and supply chain including presentations from local and international speakers.
The program includes Ge Qing, chief engineer of Shanghai Tower and Construction Development Co. Ltd., Bob Baird, executive director of construction contracts with the Australian Department of Defence. and Neil Thompson, principal BIM integrator from Balfour Beatty UK.
Other keynote speakers include Chris Di Iorio, CEO of US-based BIM specialist EngWorks, Kyle Holmes and vice-president of Brandt Engineering.
