The new Aqualean water cooled air conditioner from Lennox has some exciting efficiency and space saving benefits over competitor horizontal water cooled air conditioners on the market.
“When it comes to cooling, the Lennox Aqualean range is on average 14 per cent more energy efficient than the leading comparative model,” according to Mark Esdaile, HVAC business manager at Heatcraft. “The 3kW unit is 27 per cent more efficient than the leading comparative model.”
The company attributes the efficiencies to the advanced Climatic controller that continuously optimises power consumption, combined with electronic expansion valves, pressure transducers and temperature sensors standard across the range.
The Aqualean units are ceiling mounted, saving space on the floor as well within the ceiling. The 2kW (AWH002) and 3kW (AWH003) models are the slimmest in the market at just 230mm – which is up to 35 per cent thinner than the leading comparative model.
Since a building’s air conditioning equipment typically governs the ceiling space, the Aqualean has the potential to save 125mm in each ceiling.
This saving can reduce the slab to slab height in a high rise building so that an additional floor can be added to a 22-story building (with a slab height of 2.8m) without increasing the overall building height. Alternatively, floor to ceiling heights can be increased in apartments or building materials such as wall assemblies can be saved.
Aqualean is ideally suited to shopping areas, hotel rooms and open-plan or cellular offices, where the building is equipped with a water loop.
Each unit responds to the heating or cooling requirements of the individual zones in cellular office buildings. This ensures an excellent comfort level for occupants, better control of energy consumption and lower seasonal operating costs.
