Safe Work Australia has issued a fact sheet providing information on how to improve ventilation for indoor workplaces.

It was issued to help employers manage the risk of COVID-19 transmission and warns about the importance of maintaining HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems.

The fact sheet provides a range of measures to reduce transmission and improve ventilation in indoor settings.

Since the pandemic began Safe Work Australia has issued a series of fact sheets on how to manage COVID-19.

The safety body has also made it clear that “there is currently no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread through HVAC systems. However, adjusting the settings of your HVAC system may help minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in your workplace.”

This includes allowing more air circulation in common areas, limiting or not using recirculated air and increasing outside air intake.
