Net zero is an absolute imperative for every building and property portfolio, which is why a new consultancy has been launched to provide a wide range of engineering and sustainability support services.

Founded by Mathuran Marianayagam, Geronimo Advisory boasts a team of high-

level building performance and decarbonisation experts.

Marianayagam previously led the Asia-Pacific Building Performance Services team for a global multidisciplinary engineering and sustainability consultancy.

He is the current chair of the Facilities Management Association of Australia (FMA) Western Australian Branch, a CitySwitch Hall of Fame alumni, an awarded Green Star Champion, a member of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) Building Performance Expert Reference Panel, and a member of the Property Council of Australia (PCA) Operations and Facilities Management Committee.

“As more asset owners, investors and commercial organisations look to progress towards net zero emissions, reduce the climate and reputational risks and improve the financial value of the portfolios, the importance of practical, science-based insight is greater than ever,” Marianayagam said.

“The team at Geronimo Advisory have the skills, experience and credentials to help build meaningful sustainability approaches that deliver tangible results. With our combined backgrounds in engineering, carbon and energy auditing, stakeholder engagement and environmental science, we can offer a holistic approach to the betterment of buildings and operational practices.”

In addition to building performance, climate resilience and decarbonisation strategy services, Geronimo Advisory can help clients attain a comprehensive range of formal sustainability ratings including NABERS, Green Star, Climate Active Carbon Neutral, BEEC, WELL, LEED, NatHERS and BASIX. Advisory services are also available to assist with GRESB, CRREM, BESS and Embodied Carbon.

“These ratings and tools are of enormous value, because they ensure robust outcomes that are appropriately benchmarked, transparent and credible,” Marianayagam said.

“As requirements around disclosure and reporting increase, their value becomes even more apparent.”
