Priority skills to be included in the electrotechnology training package have been submitted for consideration to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) at its next meeting on 19 August 2021.
The Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee (IRC) is seeking endorsement for training in Emergency Lighting and Alarm Systems/Fire and Smoke Control Systemsand Variable Refrigerant Flow Air Conditioning Systems.
The first unit of competency covers the skill needs of electricians engaged in the inspection, testing and maintenance of emergency lighting and alarm systems, and in the inspection, testing and repair of fire and smoke control features of mechanical services systems.
A new unit of competency has also been developed to address the skills required of air-conditioning technicians to install, commission, service and maintain variable refrigerant flow air conditioning systems.
Finally, the Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering which was deleted in Release 2.0 of the Electrotechnology Training Package will be reinstated in Release 3.0.
