Daikin will launch a new Pro-C CRAH air handling solution at the upcoming Data Centre World (DCW), which will be held in London from 12-13 March, 2025.

Ranging from 30 to 210 kW, this new product range allows for more precise temperature control in the white space.

The key advantage of Pro-C CRAH relates to its flexible design, making it suitable for all kind of data centres.

Indeed, Pro-C CRAH is available under hard and raised floor configurations and features a comprehensive list of accessories for optimal performance and outstanding reliability.

One of the highlights of Daikin's offerings is its advanced heat recovery solutions.

At DCW, Daikin will explain its latest heat recovery technologies, in a presentation to be held in the Energy Efficiency Theatre on day two of the event.

Daikin's portfolio for data centres includes a variety of cutting-edge products and systems tailored to meet the specific needs of this energy-intensive sector. Key offerings include:

  • Intelligent Data Centre Manager (iDCM): this advanced control system ensures optimal performance over time by leveraging AI-supported plant management. The iDCM system monitors and adjusts the operation of multiple chiller units, to maintain peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Air cooled Free Cooling Chillers: Daikin free cooling chillers utilise low ambient air temperatures to reduce the need for mechanical cooling, thereby cutting energy consumption and extending equipment life. The series includes glycol-free options, which offer additional benefits such as reduced maintenance and improved efficiency. The series covers from 183 to 2154 kW and is available under two compressor technologies: scroll, and VFD screw (Daikin-developed) for optimal part load efficiency. As well, Daikin-own VFD is cooled down by refrigerant, ensuring proper operation in all working conditions.
  • Pro-W Fan Array Units: the Pro-W range is designed for flexibility and scalability. These units are available in 4 sizes, covering from 175 to 700 kW. Thereby, Pro-W units can be employed to meet the cooling needs of data centres of all sizes, providing efficient and reliable cooling solutions.

Data centre projects are inherently complex, often involving specific requirements related to product features, delivery timelines, and maintenance services.

Notably, Daikin has delivered 105 MW of cooling capacity for a single data centre project in Norway, the OSL-Hamar.

The OSL-Hamar is Norway’s largest data centre and is owned by Green Mountain. The facility consists of three main buildings, each including 30 MW of IT power, and runs exclusively on renewable energy from multiple hydropower plants.

Daikin has supplied 71 EWFH-TZ free cooling chillers, 330 Pro-W fan array units, and eight iDCM control systems for this project.

Technologies for data centres are developed and manufactured in Daikin’s competence centres in Italy and the United Kingdom. Whilst the UK factory in Cramlington, Northumberland, specialises in air-side products (Pro-C, Pro-W and other air handling units), the three Italian factories cover chillers, heat pumps, air handling units (incl. Pro-W), Pro-C CRAH, and VFD manufacturing.
