Embraco has renewed its commitment to the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world The Statement for Renewed Global Cooperation.
Known as the Global Compact and promoted by the United Nations (UN), the statement has been signed by 1,294 CEOs from more than 1,000 companies in more than 100 countries.
The aim is to unite small and medium sized enterprises to promote sustainable development goals.
Embraco is part of Nidec Global Appliance which manufacturers a wide range of products for the HVACR industry.
Nidec Global Appliance CEO, Valter Taranzano, said this statement is one of the ways to reinforce the company’s role as a transformation agent in the private sector, encouraging ethical and sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
“In addition to the internal and external initiatives adopted by our company, we are also positive influencers in the sector in which we operate and promoters of this global cooperation,” Taranzano said.
“The Statement developed by the United Nations Global Compact emerged at a time in which the world is facing one of its biggest crises, with the Covid-19 pandemic amid global warming impacts, economic uncertainty, rising disinformation and social inequality.
“This is an important context for private and public institutions to be encouraged to show their ethic, transparency and commitment with sustainability.”
The initiative was announced earlier this month at the opening of the UN Private Sector Forum, which is held in parallel with the UN General Assembly.
