ENGIE Refrigeration is planning the global premiere of its new air cooled chiller at Chillventa, which opens its doors in Nuremberg from 8-10 October 2024.

More than 930 companies will be exhibiting at Chillventa 2024 where ENGIE will present its innovative and future-oriented product and service portfolio.

This year's trade fair appearance will focus on solutions with maximum energy efficiency and sustainability for a wide range of applications and industries, according to Jochen Hornung, CEO of ENGIE Refrigeration.

“We are looking forward to demonstrating the future viability of our portfolio on the path to climate neutrality to visitors from all over the world and entering into direct dialogue with our customers,” he said.

The new, air-cooled chiller uses natural refrigerant, features heat recovery and boasts outstanding efficiency values.

The day before the big event is Chillventa CONGRESS, a compact one-day programme providing participants with a chance to learn about the latest trends and developments around the world.

This year, topics such as sustainability, digitalization, the energy transition and refrigerants will take centre stage at both the congress and the exhibition.

Even though the event isn’t for two months, exhibition space is almost fully booked, according to Daniela Heinkel, director, Chillventa, NürnbergMesse.

“The outlook for Chillventa 2024 is excellent. We expect to welcome around 930 exhibiting companies from almost 50 countries," Heinkel said.

“Compared to the post-Covid event in 2022, we are once again seeing an increase in visitor numbers. In terms of space, we have already surpassed the final figure for the previous event, with growth of five per cent. Apart from a very small number of remaining spaces, we are already almost fully booked.”

Chillventa has always been characterized by a strong international presence. In 2024, the proportion of exhibitors from abroad will be 75 per cent, representing further growth in this area too. The figure for trade visitors in 2022 was 56 per cent.

This year, the exhibition and CONGRESS will focus on heat pumps and refrigerants in the context of sustainability and the circular economy.

Other topics include digitalisation, overall energy efficiency, IT security for refrigeration systems, Eco-design, efficiency through controls, innovation in heat transfer, air conditioning and waste heat utilisation in data centres, heat recovery and much more.

In the heat pumps section, trade visitors will find presentations on low-power air-to-air heat pumps through to industrial heat pumps in the MW range and the very popular high-temperature heat pumps used for purposes such as steam generation.

The complex topic of refrigerants will also be covered including the effects of the F-Gas Regulation, the importance of PFAS, the use of refrigeration oils for low GWP refrigerants, leakage detection, sensors for A2 and A3 refrigerants, risk assessment when using flammable refrigerants, optimisation of R744 and R717 systems, planning for R290 heat pumps and air conditioning systems.
