Superior Training Centre (STC) has partnered with the Beijer Ref Academy to offer nationally accredited low GWP and CO2 refrigerants training in Tasmania.
Together with Beijer Ref Academy, a total of 13 courses have been delivered throughout 2024 with 144 technicians receiving accreditations.
As a registered provider known as Keystone Tasmania, STC provides training courses designed to upskill workers on the safe handling, installation, and servicing of Low GWP and CO₂ refrigerants:
This collaboration with Beijer Ref Academy provides businesses with the opportunity to access essential training to improve sustainability and compliance in the refrigeration industry.
Upon completion of the course, technicians are deemed competent and compliant under the relevant ACTS and ANZ regulations.
The Skill sets on offer are:
UEERA0007: Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for flammable refrigerants
UEERA0084: Service and repair self-contained flammable refrigerants air conditioning and refrigeration systems
UEERA0048: Install and commission flammable refrigerant air conditioning and refrigeration systems
And:
UEERA0006: Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for carbon dioxide refrigerants
UEERA0066: Repair and service carbon dioxide refrigeration systems
Eligible businesses in Tasmania's building and construction sector, including sole traders, can now benefit from a rebate of up to 50 per cent on training fees.
This initiative aims to reduce the environmental footprint of businesses while enhancing workforce skills and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
By participating in this training, businesses can make a meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability while equipping their teams with valuable skills.
The rebate is calculated as a percentage of the course fee incurred by the business and must be applied for at least three business days prior to the commencement of training.
Course dates for 2025 are now available with the first CO2 course is
scheduled for 20 March 2025.
