Australia’s only international air conditioning, refrigeration and building services trade exhibition, ARBS 2016, will be opening registrations for its leading edge seminar program on Monday, March 21.

This year attendees can expect another impressive lineup of speakers including a seminar panel discussion sure to create interest within the industry entitled - Is wellness the next green?

Panellists include Green Building Council of Australia CEO, Romilly Madew, International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) executive Tony Armstrong, NDY Sustainability group leader, Mark McKenna and the moderator, NDY global sustainability director and Energy Efficiency Council president, Tony Arnel.

The seminar will discuss the next wave set to sweep the property sector, a new standard that has been dubbed 'wellness'.

The WELL Building Standard, established in the United States by the International WELL Building Institute, uses evidence-based medical and scientific research to harness the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and
wellbeing. More than two million square metres of space has gained WELL certification in 12 countries.

A number of Australian heavyweights are lining up to register WELL projects. Lendlease has promised to explore piloting the upcoming WELL Community standard for key urban regeneration projects.

Macquarie Group looks set to achieve the first WELL Building rating in Australia, while DEXUS and Frasers Property have both registered projects.

So, will the WELL Standard be the next Green Star or NABERS? How can WELL ratings help building owners and managers measure the health and wellbeing of building occupants? And will it become a new market differentiator that separates the leaders from the laggards?

These are the questions to be addressed in this session which will provide a nuts-and-bolts explanation of the WELL Building Standard and its focus areas. It will also explore opportunities and obstacles to its take-up in Australia, and explain why healthy buildings are becoming the ‘next big thing’.

ARBS 2016 will be held from May 17-19, 2016 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Quick and easy pre-registration for the three day event is available online which grants free entry into the exhibition at www.arbs.com.au.
