BIM-MEP AUS is a new global industry initiative, conceived by the Air Conditioning Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA) for the Australian building and construction sector.
According to BIM-MEP AUS, building information modelling (BIM) is built on the idea that a building should be constructed twice: virtually first, physically second.
This requires a systematic process that enables the capture, recording, exchange and application of building and construction data using detailed three-dimensional modelling.
Consultants and contractors work within the BIM-MEP AUS workflows environment to build these 3D information-rich digital models of a building, which can then be passed on accurately and efficiently through the supply chain.
Using a BIM model, project teams can better simulate performance and constructability to deliver projects faster, with fewer errors and costs.
The illustrated graphics demonstrate a sample Lennox Energence Rooftop Packaged Unit project. They show how the physical, functional and spatial characteristics of the units are represented and how the equipment can be applied in the program.
